Gordon Butler, Executive Director

Gordon brings passion, leadership, and clubhouse experience to Pavilion. Gordon served four Presbyterian churches as a pastor in Louisiana and Texas from 1988 to 2004. In 2004, he went to work in the mental health field in a variety of positions at Bluebonnet Trails (including the development of small clubhouses), as well as the first Executive Director of Austin Clubhouse. More recently he has been a faculty consultant at the University of Texas Health Science Center where he authored a paper on Supported Employment and psychiatric disability. Over the years he has also been a golf instructor, a marketplace chaplain, served on numerous non-profit boards, and was even a Frisbee instructor way back in college!

He grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas and has lived in Round Rock since 2005. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin after attending the University of Oklahoma as well (he was a little confused, wasn’t he?) and received a Master’s degree from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in 1989. Gordon married his high school sweetheart in 1981 and they now have three children and four grandchildren. He has been known to be a bit competitive when it comes to sports, enjoys movies, and loves spending time with his family.
